Svensson became the first Miss Earth, an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness, when she was crowned on 28 October 2001, which was televised live internationally from the University of the Philippines Theater in Quezon City, Philippines. At the time of her crowning, the 21 year-old Svensson was a third year law student and a part-time model. It was her first time to participate in any beauty contest, she was appointed by the national pageant director of Miss Earth Denmark.[1][2][3]
It was Denmark's first title in any of the "Big Four International Pageants", and its first since winning the continental pageant, Miss Europe in 1981.[4] Among the northern European countries, Sweden has the first Miss World,[5] Finland has the first Miss Universe,[6] and Denmark has the first Miss Earth.[7] Denmark has four first runners-up, one each for Miss International and Miss Universe (Aino Korva in 1963) and two at Miss World (the first one was Lilian Madsen in 1957). Prior to Svensson's victory at Miss Earth, the best performance year of Denmark in any of the major international beauty pageants was in 1986 when Pian Rosenberg Larsen finished as first runner-up at Miss International and Pia Larsen also finished as first princess at Miss World.[8][9]
In October 2005, she went back to the Philippines and served as one of the judges in the Miss Earth 2005, the fifth edition of the pageant, which won by Miss Venezuela, Alexandra Braun Waldeck.[10]
On 6 October 2007, Svensson got married to Jan Brink, a seven-time Swedish dressage champion, the top 2 dressage rider in the world, who rides the number one horse Björsell's Briar, winner of the Aachen Championships in 2005, and Bronze medallist at the 2005 European Dressage Championships.[11][12] She moved to Sweden with Brink after their wedding, which was held in Trollenäs Castle in Sweden. The couple met in 2005 and on New Year's eve of 2006, Brink proposed to Svensson on a skiing holiday in Verbier, Switzerland.[13] Svensson is originally from Denmark but also has Swedish citizenship through her parent. After her Miss Earth reign, she continued her studies and eventually became a lawyer. She currently works as a lawyer and at the same time as a model.[14][15][16]
On March 22, 2010, Svensson gave birth to her first child. She named her girl Angelina Brink.[17]
